Moquin Press has officially set a new world record on the Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106, producing 452,755 net sellable sheets in just 24 hours. This milestone showcases the perfect blend of cutting-edge technology and operator expertise, reaffirming our commitment to “quality first, speed second.” With less than 0.6% waste and unmatched color consistency, this achievement not only redefines industry standards but also strengthens our promise to deliver faster, more reliable solutions for our customers.
Moquin Press’s commitment to innovation is centered on more than just acquiring cutting-edge technology; it involves investing in a skilled team to harness that technology effectively. Our recent world record achievement exemplifies this philosophy, highlighting both our strategic vision and the exceptional expertise of our operators.
In September 2023, we unveiled the Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 106—specially designed for label production—boasting a printing speed of up to 21,000 sheets per hour and projecting a 17% increase in net output for our cut-and-stack label production. We recognized the machine’s potential and aimed to showcase our ability to master this new technology while maintaining the highest quality standards. On June 26, 2024, we set a new world record by producing 452,755 net sellable sheets (455,709 gross sheets) in just 24 hours.
This achievement is a testament to the successful integration of the fastest press in the world with our skilled operators. Adhering to our principle of “Quality first, speed second,” our press team performed seven plate changes (to ensure quality of the plate and dot integrity) and changed thirteen rolls of material on its CutStar inline sheeter. Meanwhile, the machine’s redesigned non-stop delivery automatically started changing plates or washing blankets.
Moquin Press tackled the challenge of producing a 60 lb. C1S wet-glue label adhering to our principle of “Quality first, speed second.” Leveraging the Speedmaster XL 106’s built-in Prinect Inpress Control 3 color control technology, our operators maintained impeccable color consistency across three shifts and six different operators, achieving an average Delta E of 0.6.
“Maintaining the highest print quality is still our number one priority,” said Bryan Moquin, Vice President of Sales for Moquin.
Likewise, our industry-leading inline spectrophotometer also helped our team create less than 3,000 combined makeready and waste sheets (0.6%) throughout the entire run. Focusing on quality, our team seamlessly shattered the world record and exceeded customer expectations for a faster, more agile, and responsive supply chain.
Our success has also garnered recognition from Clarence Penge, EVP for Sales, Product Management, and Marketing at HEIDELBERG USA. He extended his congratulations, noting:
“A big congratulations to the team at Moquin Press for this incredible achievement. Their enduring success underscores the importance of continuously investing in the best people and the latest technologies to stay competitive and adapt to changes in the market.”
At Moquin Press, we extend our gratitude to our leadership for their forward-thinking vision in partnering with Heidelberg to set new industry standards. We also thank our press team for proving that achieving a world record with virtually flawless execution requires not only the best equipment but also the most skilled operators.
Ultimately, our world record represents more than a milestone; it reflects Moquin Press’s vision, strategic investments, and the extraordinary talent of our team. We are proud of this achievement and look forward to the future as we continue to lead the industry with innovation and excellence.
From first samples to full production, we’re here to make every step easier.
